Bed Levy

As of February 1st 2013, the Eswatini Tourism Authority will collect a Bed levy on each Bed used per night. Levies to be collected will assist the ETA in funding training for the industry and also assist in marketing the destination. The Bed Levy as at 1st January 2020 is 3% of room rate.

Accommodation Grading

In line with the industry’s efforts to enhance service delivery, and ensure improved and consistent standards across the country, ETA launched voluntary grading for accommodation establishments in Eswatini in August 2018.

All establishments are encouraged to be assessed and can download the grading application form.

Star ratings from 1 to 5 are available within categories of: hotels, lodges, B&Bs, self-catering, and campsites. The legal notice, which includes details of what is needed to achieve which star ratings, are available for download.
